Keep the memories. Leave the noise.
Meta starts with nearly everything selected. Keep the memory categories on. Leave Data logs off. Messages stay off unless you are making a separate private backup.
Posts, photos and videos, stories, reels, comments, reactions, profile details, friends and followers.
OurWalk does not need them. Leave Messages off by default.
They are technical, slower to prepare, and unnecessary for your memory timeline.
Meta does the packing.

Download ready
You have four days before the link expires.
Keep every part
Large downloads can arrive as several files.
Keep the files Meta gives you.
When OurWalk is ready, you’ll choose the original file from Meta—or every part if Meta gives you more than one.
OurWalk cannot receive it yet. Keeping the original download means it will be ready when importing opens.
- Do not open or rename the files
- Keep every part together
- Keep Facebook and Instagram downloads separate
Bring your memories, not other people’s privacy.
Store the files on a device you control. Never email the files, your password, a login code, or a Meta download link.
Look for these four labels.
Update the app or use Accounts Center in a browser. For current details, see Meta’s official Facebook and Instagram instructions.
